Selections are the most enjoyable part of building for many people, and also the easiest place to spend money on things that date quickly. These are the questions we ask to help you choose finishes that still feel right years from now.
Will it look better with use?
Some materials gain character as they age: natural stone, solid wood, unlacquered brass, lime plaster. Others show every mark. Think about how a surface will look after five years of real family life, not on the first day.
Does it suit the house?
A finish that is perfect in a contemporary home can feel out of place in a traditional one. We look at the architecture first and choose finishes that belong to it.
Where should the budget go?
Spend on what you touch every day: door hardware, kitchen counters, faucets, flooring. Save on what you rarely notice. A well-made door handle you use ten times a day is worth more than a feature wall you stop seeing after a month.
Is there a calm base?
A restrained palette of floors, walls and cabinetry lets furniture, art and light do the talking, and makes it easy to refresh a room later without starting over.
Have you seen it in person?
Colors and textures change in real light. We bring real samples to every selection meeting and look at them in daylight before anything is ordered.
