The Heights
Historic streets, a tree-lined boulevard and one of Houston's most walkable neighborhoods.

The neighborhood
Founded in 1891 as one of the first planned communities in Texas, Houston Heights still feels like a town of its own inside the city.
Heights Boulevard runs through the middle of the neighborhood with a wide, tree-lined esplanade, a walking path and some of the city's best-kept historic homes along it. Side streets mix Victorian houses, Craftsman bungalows and carefully designed new homes.
Shops, restaurants and coffee places line 19th Street and the streets around it, and the Heights Hike and Bike Trail follows an old rail line through the neighborhood, linking to longer trails along White Oak Bayou.
Parts of the neighborhood sit in City of Houston historic districts, which have their own design guidelines for new homes. We review those rules for every lot before design begins.
